We are looking for a number of new trustees to join our Board of Trustees to help oversee the governance of Habonim Dror and ensure it grows from strength to strength. Habonim Dror plays a unique role in the lives of young people who are lucky enough to be touched by it. The counterculture, the independence from any parent body and the belief that it is entirely possible to create a more just and equal world sets it apart from the rest of the youth movements. The history of the youth movement is steeped in the Kibbutz movement in Israel and the uprising of the Warsaw Ghetto in the 2nd World War. This has shaped the unique and special youth movement that Habonim Dror is today.  As key volunteers, trustees play an essential role in ensuring the longevity and success of this historic youth movement.

You do not need to have had previous experience of Habonim Dror but an understanding of the key role that Jewish youth movements play in the lives of young people is essential. You must also be committed to the values of Habonim Dror to be a trustee.

The Habonim Dror board meets bi-monthly (once every two months) and trustees are expected to attend board meetings and to contribute between board meetings as and when required. Meetings are online with the expectation of travel to London once or twice a year (reasonable expenses covered). We are specifically interested in recruiting trustees for the following roles:

  • Safeguarding and Welfare
  • Treasurer
  • Compliance and Governance
  • Fundraising
  • PR, Marketing and Communications

However, if you are interested in applying and you do not feel your skill set is suited to these specific roles, we would still like to hear from you.

For full details of what being a trustee involves, and for information about these specific roles, please look at our detailed role descriptions here. We want to ensure that our board of trustees is made up of a diverse age range and skillset, and we would be more than happy to speak to anyone who has any questions or wants more information. Please feel free to get in touch with us at trustees@habodror.org.uk to do so.

How to apply

Please send us an email with an expression of interest, outlining why you would like to be a trustee of Habonim Dror, and what specific skills and relevant experience you have that makes you a suitable candidate. Please also state if there is a specific role you are interested in. Email to trustees@habodror.org.uk

The closing date is Thursday 5th December after which we may be in touch to arrange follow-up discussions.
