Tuesday 2nd August - Saturday 6th August: Tiyul (Days 1-5)
All the chanichim (participants) are split into smaller kvutsot (groups) of around 13 chanichim and 3/4 madrichim (leaders) for the first few days of machaneh (camp). As well as activities aimed at learning more about the other members of their kvutsot and group building, the chanichim will spend the first five days on a tiyul (hike) from one campsite to the next, buying food and doing various fun things along the way!
Saturday 6th August: Mainsite (Day 5)
On this day the chanichim will return from tiyul and be introduced to the rest of the chanichim and madrichim. They will celebrate Shabbat together and be introduced to the educational tochnit (theme) of the camp which is Zionism.
Sunday 7th August: Mainsite (Day 6)
On this day the chanichim will look at the early beginnings of the Zionist movement. They will explore why the Zionist movement came into fruition when it did as well as looking at who the people were who built the early beginnings of the State of Israel.
Monday 8th August: Mainsite (Day 7)
On this day the chanichim will learn about the actual creation of the State of Israel and look at the struggle that took place for the state to come into existence and remain as a Jewish state. They will explore the consequences of the main wars of Israel and look at their effects on Israeli society.
Tuesday 9th August: Mainsite (Day 8)
On this day the chanichim will look at who the State of Israel actually belongs to. They will explore the different communities that live in the State of Israel and what their relationship is to the land and the state.
Wednesday 10th August: Mainsite (Day 9)
On this day the chanichim will learn at the efforts that have been made to achieve peace in Israel. They will look at why the peace process is a complicated and difficult process for all those involved and will discuss how they would approach some of these issues themselves.
Thursday 11th August: Mainsite (Day 10)
Day out - at a secret venue to be revealed!
Friday 12th August: Mainsite (Day 11)
This day will be devoted to looking at the internal character of the State of Israel. The chanichim will look at the complications of having a mixture of religious, secular, Ashkenazi and Mizrachi Jews in the state and how these different types of Jews have different conceptions of what the State of Israel should look like. They will explore some of the social problems within Israeli society and discuss how there is still much room for improvement in the creation of an ideal society.
Saturday 13th August: Mainsite (Day 12)
On this day the chanichim will celebrate Shabbat together in a traditional Habo Dror fashion, having a break from the tochnit of the camp in order to focus on the importance of Shabbat.
Sunday 14th August: Mainsite (Day 13)
Make Your Own Day - this day will be planned and run for the chanichim by the chanichim. They will be teaching each other about the different types of people that you can find in Israel such as Druze and Bedouin communities.
Monday 15th August: Mainsite (Day 14)
On this day the chanichim will explore the role of young people in the creation of the State of Israel. They will look at the role of youth movements from within Israel and the Diaspora in setting up and creating the state.
Tuesday 16th August: Mainsite (Day 15)
Teary goodbyes and clean up!
