All the chanichim (participants) are split into smaller kvutsot (groups) of around 13 chanichim and 3/4 madrichim (leaders) for the first few days of machaneh (camp). As well as activities aimed at learning more about the other members of their kvutsot and group building, the chanichim will spend the first five days on a tiyul (hike) from one campsite to the next, buying food and doing various fun things along the way!
Thursday 4th August: Mainsite (Day 5)
On this day the chanichim are returning from tiyul where they will be introduced to the rest of the people on machaneh and to all the madrichim. They will be introduced to the educational theme of the camp and the aim is to set a positive and upbeat tone for ‘Machaneh Taglit’.
Friday 5th August: Mainsite (Day 6)

Saturday 6th August: Mainsite (Day 7)
On this day the chanichim will explore the concept of Shabbat and try to understand how Shabbat is different from every other day. They will also plan next week’s Shabbat themselves in small groups.
Sunday 7th August: Mainsite (Day 8)
On this day the chanichim will be looking at judgement within the Jewish community and why it takes place. They will look at their own pre-conceived ideas about other Jews as well as assessing their own values and seeing how they relate if they do at all to their Judaism. The chanichim will look at how people sometimes subconsciously conform to the norms of society with no understanding of why they are doing so.
